BASKETBALL
State organization announces change
MN Jaycees Youth Basketball Projects
- In 2009, the decision was made to discontinue the Minnesota Jaycees Supershots program and encourage chapters to participate in the Ihoops Skills Challenge.
- It was determined that local chapters have several opportunities to run local youth basketball programs. These other programs are run similarly to the PPK and PHR programs, and will function as great local Community Development programs
- These other existing programs that the NBA runs have the resources to have great online support systems, toolkits for all local hosts, and will be easier for local chapters to run.
If local chapters want to continue to run local youth basketball programming, the state organization is suggesting pursuing the Ihoops Skills Challenge. The Minnesota Jaycees state organization will NOT be acting as a statewide coordinator, but instead will be promoting chapter participation in this program as a great project- in-a-box for CD programming.
iHoops Skills Challenge
iHoops Skills Challenge is a FREE basketball skills competition that is simple to administer.

www.ihoops.com/programs/skills-challenge
Boys and girls ages 9 to 14 compete separately and may compete in up to three (3) levels of competition, including the National Finals in Orlando, Florida.
Every youngster has the opportunity to showcase his or her dribbling, passing and shooting skills in this time-based, half-court obstacle course.
Each Local Competition Administrator will receive a free Administrative Kit that includes all competition materials and equipment (Local Administrator T-Shirt, cones, award ribbons, stopwatch, handbook, promotional posters, etc.) necessary to host a Local Competition.
