Project Feature: Rush City Jaycees’ Santa Day
2011 was the chapter’s first year running the Santa Day project, the impetus of which came from the Halloween Social they hosted in October. Complete with horse hay rides for the public, the event was so well they decided to do a similar format for a Christmas project! The chapter had attendees park in an open hay field and invited them to hop on to 1 of 4 wagons being pulled by a team of draft horses. South St. Paul’s “On the Road Again” has been going on for about 25 years, along with the World Championship Booya Competition. The South St. Paul Jaycees first won the competition in 1991 and when they re-formed the chapter in 2007 they decided they needed to enter themselves as competitors again. In 2008, the first year back in the competition, they won and again in 2010.
